Our client, a global shipping group headquartered in Central London, is seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team. Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions
Support the month-end close process, ensuring the integrity of financial data and strong double-entry bookkeeping
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing data and analysis as required
Support the external audit process, ensuring documentation and schedules are prepared accurately
Work closely with operational teams across global offices to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial information
Contribute to process improvements, helping enhance financial controls and reporting efficiency
Provide ad-hoc financial support and analysis to finance managers and senior stakeholders

Role Requirements:

Strong double-entry bookkeeping skills are essential
Part-qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA) with full study support provided
Experience in an accounting or finance support role (industry or practice)
Confident working with high volumes of data and reconciling complex accounts
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment
Intermediate Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables) desirable
