The location in a landmark luxury hotel provides exposure to international guests and a strong culture of excellence in service.Role Description The Head Waiter role is a full-time, on-site position based in London at Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal. This role oversees the guest experience in the dining room, including welcoming and seating guests, presenting menus, taking orders, and coordinating food and beverage service with the kitchen and bar teams. The Head Waiter ensures service standards are consistently met, supervises and supports waiting staff, and handles guest queries or concerns promptly and professionally. Daily tasks include managing table reservations, monitoring service flow, maintaining a polished and organized dining area, and communicating menu details, specials, and dietary information to guests. The role also involves collaborating with management on service improvements, training team members, and upholding health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Experience
Candidates should possess strong Customer Service and Communication skills to deliver a high-quality guest experience and interact effectively with diverse clientele and team members.
Candidates should possess solid Food & Beverage and Food Service skills, including familiarity with fine-dining standards, menu knowledge, and service etiquette.
Candidates should possess understanding culinary terminology to explain dishes accurately and coordinate effectively with the kitchen.
Previous experience in fine-dining or luxury hotel restaurants.
High attention to detail, professional appearance, and commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

Alex Dilling is open Tuesday to Saturday (lunch on Saturday otherwise dinner only).
